VirtusLab has taken over the maintenance of Scala 2, working alongside the Scala Center and Scala Core Team. They will manage the development of both Scala versions 2 and 3 while ensuring no disruption to Scala 2’s maintenance and plans. Previous Scala 2 developers from Akka have joined VirtusLab, and the future of Scala 2 will continue to be supported with planned releases.
