MIT to Become Hotbed of AI Video Surveillance

MIT is investing over $3 million in AI video surveillance technology across its campus, with plans to install more than 500 cameras capable of real-time classification and monitoring of individuals as well as detecting various behaviors. The initiative has raised concerns regarding privacy and data retention, as collected data can be stored for up to 30 days unless exceptions are made.
