Summary
This article is the first part of a series analyzing the performance of Identity Management (IdM) systems when utilizing encrypted DNS (eDNS) under high load. It compares conventional and encrypted DNS protocols (DoT) in terms of performance metrics like queries per second (QPS), latency, and resource utilization. Tests reveal that while eDNS improves security, it introduces performance overhead, with UDP outperforming TCP and DoT protocols in terms of throughput. The article serves as a guide for implementing and benchmarking IdM architecture under varied network conditions, specifically focusing on performance trade-offs with security protocols.
