One Month of Ecosystem Security Engineering

The PHP Foundation is actively working on improving the security of the PHP open source ecosystem through a new Ecosystem Security Team, funded by a grant from Alpha-Omega. Over the past month, they assessed the needs of PHP community members, scanned over 300 Composer packages for vulnerabilities, and engaged with maintainers to address security findings. Tools like Scrutineer are being developed to improve the scanning process, and efforts are underway to assemble a dedicated team for ongoing security support. Future goals include scanning additional projects and deeper analysis of core libraries.
