The following trig identity looks like a mistake but is correct: sin(x + y) sin(x – y) = (sin(x) + sin(y)) (sin(x) – sin(y)) It looks as if someone fallaciously expanded sin(x + y) “=” sin(x) + sin(y) and sin(x – y) “=” sin(x) – sin(y).
